Inês Carvalho is an assistant professor at Universidade Europeia – in Lisbon. She holds a PhD in Tourism from the University of Aveiro in Portugal, and her thesis is entitled: Gendering the Tourism Sector: Women Managers’ Experiences in Hotel and Travel Businesses in Portugal. During the first half of her PhD, she was a visiting scholar at the Unit of Gender Studies at Linköping University in Sweden. Inês worked as a research assistant and researcher in two projects on gender and tourism funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, the Portuguese national funding agency for science, research and technology. She holds a BSc in Modern Languages and Literatures – English and German Literature from the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and an MSc in Management and Planning in Tourism from the University of Aveiro. She has published several papers on gender issues in tourism and on literary tourism (see https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Ines_Carvalho6). Her most recent research interests also include the sharing economy in tourism and the relationship between tourism and language.
