Marcelo G. Oliveira concluded his Ph.D. at the University of Lisbon and is an integrated member of CLEPUL, the Centre for Lusophone and European Literatures and Cultures of that University. Since 2011, he has taught several courses in Tourism and Hospitality degrees, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and developed scientific research in the area, namely as principal investigator of the “Cultural Memories and Tourism Promotion” project. He is also the author of two books and co-editor of two others, and his research is regularly published in national and international scientific journals. In 2004, he won the Revelation Award of the Portuguese Association of Writers in the Essay category and more recently, in 2019, the Best Paper in Progress Award, as co-author, of the Tourism Research Network Conference.
