The Science Management Office

The Science Management Office is a structure that operates directly under the Research Director and the Vice-Rector for Research.

The Science Management Office (SMO) is a dedicated unit that provides strategic and operational support to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of research activities within our institution. Our mission is to streamline administrative processes, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensure the seamless integration of cutting-edge scientific methodologies and technologies.

The SMO is responsible for:

  • Coordinating research projects and facilitating communication among researchers, funding bodies, and industry partners.
  • Managing grant applications, funding allocations, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Offering professional development opportunities and resources to support the growth and success of our research community.
  • Promoting the dissemination and impact of research findings through effective knowledge transfer and outreach initiatives.

Through our comprehensive support services, the SMO aims to empower researchers to focus on innovation and discovery, contributing to the advancement of science and technology.

The Science management Office team is currently composed of 4 senior managers, Christian Ramos, Graça Pessoa, Ana Rita Freitas and Anabela Barradas.

Opportunities

Universidade Europeia, within the framework of the ChallengeEU Alliance,, is opening a call for applications for the award of 5 (five) PhD Research Scholarships, funded by FCT, to support research leading to a doctoral degree at Universidade Europeia, with an international component at a partner university within ChallengeEU.

Scientific areas (select 1 main area + up to 3 subtopics/keywords):

  • SDG 3 | Health and Well-being
  • SDG 9 | Smart Digitalization
  • SDG 13 | Sustainable Futures

Duration: annual mixed scholarships, renewable, for up to a maximum of 48 months. The research period at a foreign ChallengeEU university cannot exceed 12 months.

Applications: from March 15, 2026 (00:00) to May 15, 2026 (23:59, Lisbon time).
